Since the beginning of the revolution the Islamic Regime in Iran has blinded hundreds of protestors. Why the feel the need to shoot hundreds of pellets into the faces and bodies of protesters is beyond me.

One of these protesters that has come to light is Zaniar Tondro an 18 year old from Kurdistan in Iran. After being shot, he lost his eyesight in one eye. Not only has he lost his eyesight, but he also has 14 pellets in his head which have damaged his brain and paralysed the left side of his body.

Unfortunately many people like him cannot go to the doctor or hospital and seek medical attention, as either the doctors turn them in to the authorities, or if they are treated, the doctors are themselves harmed or killed.

To help their son, his family sold everything and left Iran to seek medical help for their son in Europe. Like many in this situation, they are refugees. They cannot get on a plane and leave legally. With their lives in danger, they have risked everything to help their son.

While on a boat in Greece, the Greek authorities not only did not help them, but beat them and other refugees and returned them to Turkey. If you know anything, you should know that Turkey does not treat Kurds very well and a pattern is emerging of Turkey forcibly deporting Iranian refugees back to Iran where their lives are in danger.

In this case, the boat was held for 48 hours, and they have been deported and being held in Mugla, Turkey.

Here, you can listen to his father describing their harrowing ordeal (this is on Farsi).

To help people like Zaniar and other protesters, please write and ask your local MP to become a political sponsor. It has been shown that those that are politically sponsored have a spotlight on them and at least have a shot at being treated better than if they remain an anonymous number.

Please look at this letter template I have pulled together for political sponsorship. I am writing to several Australian senators and asking them 1. Directly to sponsor Zaniar and 2. Advocate to offer him asylum so that he can come to Australia and seek medical help and live a free and peaceful life.

There is also a petition calling on EU member countries, the EU Human Rights Commission and Canada to grant Zaniar and his family a medical visa to travel or mediccal treatment. One of the easiest things you can do is to sigh this: PETITION

Please do this so that we can help save Zaniar and many like him.
